Just wanted to share this photo, which I feature in a recent post about covering the November Nine on my WSOP14 site. I was far from action as a garden variety media member, had to take photos using extreme zoom (with a $150 Canon that does not do well without sufficient lighting or proximity to the target). That said I somehow struck lightning in a bottle and caught Jacobson's expression of sheer joy, at the center of the celebration. This was a moment to remember forever for a grinder who really deserved his $10 million score.
I first covered Jacobson in a side event tournament he final-tabled back in June. As a blogger, I was impressed by his quiet, steady demeanor and by the fact that (unlike Joe "Chico" Cada, JC Tran, George "Danzinator" Danzer, and Max "Machine" Silver) he did not seem to need a nickname. How baller is that? This was a big reason I picked him over Van Hoof and Newhouse as a dark horse to win the bracelet.
